Geovanni “Geo” Barrios is a musician and visual artist, born and raised in Miami, who now lives and works in New York.
Originally trained as an orchestral tubist, he makes sculptures, drawings, photographs, and installations that examines the evolution of American masculinity. Barrios holds a BA in Art History from Yale University and has worked in arts conservation at the Yale University Art Gallery and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His experiences with historical objects, preservation techniques, and time in the archives inform his artistic practice.
Geo has been awarded residency fellowships at the Clyfford Still Museum Institute and the Royal Over Seas League in London. He has also performed internationally in Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
